Cherry & Pear Crisp
Serve this delicious crisp warm or at room temperature with vanilla ice cream or heavy whipping cream!
8 cups of peeled, cored and sliced D’Anjou Pears
4 cups pitted Dark Sweet Cherries
2 teaspoons almond extract
1-½ cups of sugar
¾ cup of flour
½ teaspoon of cinnamon
½ cube of butter or ¼ cup (cut into small pieces)
- Topping Ingredients:
1 cup uncooked rolled oats
½ cup butter or one cube butter
½ cup all purpose flour
1-cup brown sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- 8 cups of peeled, cored and sliced D’Anjou Pears
- 4 cups pitted Dark Sweet Cherries
- 2 teaspoons almond extract
- 1-½ cups of sugar
- ¾ cup of flour
- ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
- ½ cube of butter or ¼ cup (cut into small pieces)
- 1 cup uncooked rolled oats
- ½ cup butter or one cube butter
- ½ cup all purpose flour
- 1-cup brown sugar
Instructions for Topping:
In a small bowl mix together oats, flour and brown sugar. With fingers or pastry blender cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
In a medium size mixing bowl add cherries and almond extract. Mix to combine. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl add sliced pears sugar, flour and cinnamon and toss to combine. Add cherries to pear mixture and toss gently to combine fruit.
Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray and spread fruit mixture evenly in dish. Dot the fruit mixture with butter.
Sprinkle oatmeal topping on top of the fruit mixture and bake in a hot oven for 45 minutes to one hour or until the oat topping is golden and the fruit juices are bubbling.
